About Amaya Gibson
Hi, I’m Amaya Gibson — a home cook, recipe developer, and photographer based in Massachusetts, USA. Welcome to A Grateful Kitchen, where I share from-scratch recipes, New England seasonal cooking, and the stories of the farmers and markets that inspire my table.
My Story
I grew up in a small town in Massachusetts, where my grandmother’s kitchen was the heart of our family. She taught me that a grateful kitchen isn’t about fancy equipment or rare ingredients — it’s about slowing down, cooking with intention, and sharing what you make with the people you love. That idea is the foundation of everything on this site.
After years of cooking for my family and friends and saving every “keeper” recipe I developed, I decided to write them all down. A Grateful Kitchen is that collection — tested, honest, and made for real life.
My Credentials & Experience
I want you to know who’s behind the recipes you’re cooking. Here’s my background, in plain terms:
- Home cook & self-taught recipe developer — 15+ years developing and refining recipes for a busy household.
- Food safety trained — completed a nationally recognized food safety program (ServSafe) to cook with confidence and handle ingredients properly.
- Photography — I shoot and edit all recipe photos in-house, so you see exactly what to expect.
- Recipe testing — every recipe is tested at least twice in my own kitchen before it’s published.
- Local food advocate — I shop the farmers’ markets and CSA programs across Massachusetts and feature local, seasonal ingredients whenever they’re at their best.
My Promise to You
Every recipe on this site is tested, honest about substitutions, and written for real home cooks. I’ll never expect you to hunt for a specialty ingredient when a simple swap works. If a recipe needs a special tool or technique, I’ll tell you upfront.
